How Elizabeth James Got Saved
Literary Fabulism with a heavy dose of Gen X and Exvangelical grit
Elizabeth James is a ten-year-old with a sharp mind and tongue, who refuses to bend to the rules of her troubled, conservative Christian family. She sees what others deny—shadows that whisper and dreams that bleed into her waking life. In a house ruled by fear and sanctimony, making herself small is the only way to survive.
Set against the backdrop of 80s and 90s youth culture—cassette tapes, roadside diners, and the quiet rebellion of girls who dare to know themselves, Elizabeth’s world is a constant cycle of uprooting and awakening. When a betrayal at twelve cracks her reality wide open, she is thrust into a decade-long odyssey through five towns and five new lives.
As she navigates the brutal terrain of girlhood and power toward the turn of the millennium, Elizabeth realizes the whispers aren’t just a haunting—they are a calling. In a world eager to claim her future, she must discover if she is truly broken, or if she is something ancient the world isn’t prepared to face.

Meet Aurora Grace
Aurora Grace is a bibliophile, pluviophile, and shenaniganator who has no intention of ever repenting. She loves to tell stories that unwrap the soul of things and celebrate sassy heroines with big ideas.
When not reading or writing, she can be found drinking wine and espresso (not at the same time), playing piano, singing at the top of her lungs, and dancing. Occasionally she will grow a vegetable or two to keep her family happy and she loves a good beach day.
